About Us

In 1993, Pastry and More opened our doors to the Coeur D’Alene community. Since then, we have been committed to scratch baking, family recipes, and the joy of celebrating each and every day.

In 2010, Bill Steele, Pastry and More’s original founder passed his oven mitts over to Becky Renfrew. In addition to the classics, from angelic white chiffon to sweet and flaky orange rolls, we offer a full espresso bar and a lunch counter with sandwiches made on fresh baked breads. Stop on by when in the neighborhood and let us make your day a little sweeter.

Becky Renfrew

Our fearless leader and devoted owner Becky comes from a long line of entrepreneurs, from her Grandfather who owned a mercantile to her Parents’ restaurants and electrical business. Becky’s passion for baking and cake decorating started at a young age while helping her Mother in the kitchen, baking for family and friends. Becky has worked in several professions ranging from apprentice electrician, bookkeeper, line cook, and managing one of her parents’ restaurants.

Although rewarding and full of great learning opportunities, Becky knew those pursuits were not her calling and 2010 decided to buy Pastry and More to pursue her love of baking.

When Becky isn’t baking, she’s with her husband Tony and their two boys, Kyle and Gage and their dog Cody. They enjoy spending time together on adventurous activities: hunting, and snow shoeing in the winter to baseball games in the spring, and camping, fishing at the lake in the summer.

Bill Steele

Legendary for his expertise and the icing that holds the bakery together, our Head Baker Bill is a true culinary savant. Bill began his career at the age of 13, baking in his father’s bakery, Steele’s, in Chandler, Arizona. He left his father’s business at the age of 22 to explore the baking and culinary scene of San Francisco. After a few years in the Bay Area, Bill then moved to the Seattle area, continuing to bake and accumulate experience. From there Bill went on to work for the Sun Valley Resort, beginning as a baker and eventually becoming their Head Pastry Chef. In 1986 Bill was approached with an offer to build from scratch a baking program at a new and prestigious resort, the Coeur D’Alene Resort. In April of 1993, ready for a new challenge, Bill and his wife Linda opened Pastry and More, combining a lifetime of experience with generations of family recipes and a commitment to scratch baking. After 17 years of ownership, Bill sold the bakery to Becky but stayed on as its Head Baker out of love for his craft and the joy of baking people happy.
